The museum wants to keep the rich fishing past of our Flemish coast alive with the elaborate museum collections presented in lifelike decors, Works of art, illustrations, and several hands-on elements.
By means of contemporary presentation techniques the fisherman guides you through the history of the Flemish fishing industry. You get to know the living conditions and lifestyle of the Flemish fisherman at the West Coast, beach fishing and beachcombing, superstition versus popular belief of the fisherman's family, a historic shipyard, ... The coastal fishing vessel OD.1 Martha was centrally positioned in the nem development, and acts as a steppingstone for the various storylines within the museum.
